In the early 1990s Jose Aguilar’s father, Antonio Aguilar Sr. a civil engineer (PE) and geometronic surveyor (PLS), founded the firm’s predecessor - Aguilar Design & Development. Aguilar Design & Development designed homes and invested in residential real estate ventures. Based in Gainesville, FL, Aguilar Design & Development designed homes to be built on speculation as an investment with various contractors. Aguilar Design & Development also designed homes for various contractors and their clients in Alachua County.

Jose Aguilar grew up learning to design homes from his father and learning the construction business through direct observation of the projects his father designed, had built, marketed and sold. Jose graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and set-out working for a commercial contractor building multi-family and assisted living facilities in Naples, FL. Jose qualified for, and obtained, his Florida Certified Building Contractor License and in 2003 founded Aguilar Builders, Inc.

With Aguilar Builders, Jose became his father’s contractor and designed many homes and built them custom and speculatively. Aguilar Builders specializes in unique and innovative home designs with higher end finishes; some renovation work is undertaken as well. Following the financial crisis of 2007-2008, Jose has been working with clients in the commercial office sector offering his services as Senior Project Manager. He has recently been focused on delivering infrastructure projects for a large multi-national financial client throughout the Americas Region.

Jose’s passion has always been residential real estate. He brings over 25 years of experience as a Florida Certified Building Contractor (CBC) designing, building, renovating, marketing, and selling speculative and custom homes in North Florida.
